Oh yes, potty training, we are at it again...this time with Mady. She is still in the very early stages of potty training. And, to be honest, after the adventure that it was with Trip, I am in no hurry to train her. But, as is going to always be the case with Mady, she is on her own time schedule and wants to be in charge. So, she is potty training. In fact, if you ask her, she'll tell you that she uses the big girl potty and that she wears panties with Dora and Princesses on them. These are both lies, but she'll tell anyone that will listen and believe her. But, we did have a big break through this week. On Tuesday, TJ was giving the kids a bath, and Mady said she needed to go potty. And TJ, being the better parent than I am, believed her and took her out of the bath, dried her off and sat her on the potty. And, much to my surprise, she peed! We were all so excited, even sweet Trip who gave the loudest praise of all. So, Mady "wiped" herself and got back in the tub and was awarded two M&Ms-one for telling us she needed to go and one for going in the potty. When she finished her treat, she told TJ she needed to go again, the girl loves candy! She did it again tonight before we went to bed. She told me she needed to go, so I sat her on the potty and she peed in there again! Super exciting! I really think she is only going for the candy and the chance to flush the toilet, but whatever works is fine with me. Won't be long now and we'll have NO MORE DIAPERS in our house!!! Woo-Hoo!!!
The last couple of weeks have been busy and fun! Last weekend we helped my parents close down their pool for the summer. Our friends, the Guerards, brought their kids and came with us. We had a great, relaxing weekend, swimming, eating and watching football. That pool has been such a treat this summer. It has been so nice to take the kids up there and hang out by the pool with my mom and dad! I am already looking forward to it again next year.
The kids are both loving school. Mady got to start doing the carpool line this week and she thought she was such a BIG girl. She was so excited to get out of the car in the line where we always drop Trip off and walk in with him. And, he was so sweet, showing her to her room and taking good care of her. It's so fun to hear about their days and the times that they run into each other at school. Mady definitely loves the music time the best and Trip and his friends are dripping with sweat at the end of each day after chasing each other around the playground playing a game they call "Super Dogs."
This weekend, Trip scored a few goals at his soccer game! (The picture is of him cooling off after his game, what a goof!)He really does have a good time when he is playing, it's just the getting him to play that is not so fun. I am hoping that stops soon. There are a few dads on the sidelines that are screaming their heads off the entire game, which cannot be helping his nervousness. Most of their yelling is directed at their own children, but it still creates a stressful environment. TJ and I are shocked at how early this is starting. Our favorite quote from the weekend came from one of the moms of Trip's teammate, "We have to do it, if we don't scream at him, he won't do anything." Really!?! Mady stays busy at the games by bringing one of her 8 baby dolls and a stroller and walking around the field. She is such a mommy-in-the-making. And today, we finally got some much needed rain! It's been so nice to be stuck inside and just relax. Everyone took big naps today...except me, but I did enjoy the silence. I am so ready for fall to be here!
