Remembering When...

Today on our way to church, TJ and I were reminiscing with the kids about what he and I were doing 6 years ago today. 6 years ago was also a Sunday. We went to church and I remember the pastor preaching about the birth of Jesus and how Mary had to ride on the back of a donkey for days when she was 9 months pregnant. The pastor pointed to me and asked if I could imagine having to do that...as I was 9 months pregnant with Trip. I COULD NOT! Trip was 9 days overdue and I was ready for him to come on out and join our family! After church, TJ and I came home and tried to take a nap because we knew it was the last day we would have the luxury to do so on our own timing. After our nap, we got up, packed our bags, went to dinner and then checked into the hospital for me to be induced. Trip came the next day, December 12th around 6:30 pm, after 2 hours of pushing! And, our lives have never been the same since! Trip has brought us so much joy the last 6 years! Sure, he's also brought us plenty of heartache, heartburn and little sleep too, but I wouldn't trade any of it. He is such a sweet, thoughtful boy. He is always thinking of others and putting their needs in front of his own. He is smart and funny. His smile and laughter can light up a room. He has the biggest imagination I have ever seen. He loves dinosaurs, animals, cars, sports, legos and anything with peanut butter on it. He is hesitant to try new things, but when he likes something, he REALLY likes something. He is a great friend and loves to give hugs to all those that are special to him. He loves Jesus and shares that with an openness I wish I had. He is honest, caring and creative. He has blessed our lives greatly these past six years and he makes me want to be a better person. Each day, I thank God for bringing him into our lives and choosing us to have the privilege of being his parents. Happy 6th Birthday to my perfect Trip!
