California Dreamin...par

We have been planning this trip to California to visit our friends, the Guerards, since last Summer when they decided to make the move from Peachtree City!  I still cannot believe how much we packed into a 5 day trip to California!!  Our kids are really getting to be SO easy to travel with.  They did great on the 4 hour flight out there.  Each seat on the plane had one of those screens on the back, so the kids (and I) could watch free TV shows for the entire flight!  And, the best part is that it was Saturday morning, so there were plenty of cartoons to pick from.  I don't know how our parents traveled with us without such easy entertainment!  Once we arrived in Orange County, we were greeted by our sweet friends and a precious sign created by Turner.  All four kids ran to each other and hugged...it was so sweet!  We were taken to the beach, so we could all run of some steam.  It was low tide, so the kids got to see some huge starfish!  Then, we had a little picnic and went back to the Guerards house!   Trip and Mady managed to stay up until 7 pm West Coast time and then they passed out!  The three of us shared a room together...them on a queen air mattress and me on a twin bed right next to them.  I was a little worried about whether or not it would work, but other than a nightly re-positioning (Mady always ended up on top of Trip at some point), they did pretty good.  At least until the last night.  :-)    The hard part has been coming home and getting them to sleep in their own beds, especially for sweet Mady.  She loved the nightly sleepover with her big brother!   Day two, we headed out to Legoland!  Alison and I took all 4 kids, which was harder than we anticipated because almost every ride there was for 2 people at a time...not easy to maneuver with only 2 parents and 4 kids.  It gave me such a greater appreciation for parents of bigger families.   Trip's favorite part was by far the mini star wars land created in legos.  It was really pretty amazing!  All of the mini land parts were really incredible.  I can't believe the things people can make out of legos!  Day 3 we decided to take it easy and just hang out by the pool.  But, when your pool is a huge water park, it's not such a laid back day!  This park was awesome!!    And, after wearing the kids out all day, Alison and I got to go out and have some girl time, while Thomas watched all 4 kids.  Thank you, Thomas!!  Day 4 we headed to another park...Disneyland!  We had so much fun!  We had each kid pick their top three rides, and we managed to do everyone of them before we left.  There was one that was left out, the Matterhorn, it wasn't working when we first got there, and once they got it back up the line was WAY too big to wait!  I was so proud of Trip and Mady; they both got on rides they hadn't ridden before...Space Mountain for Trip and Thunder Mountain for Mady!  And, lucky me, I got to ride Thunder Mountain 4 times!!!   Again, Trip's favorite part centered around Star Wars.  He and Mady both got to participate in Jedi training which ended in them each fighting Darth Vader.  They were so brave and incredibly adorable!  Day 5 we headed back to the beach and just played and dug in the sand and water.  It is so cool how close and easy it is to just head to the beach for the Guerards.  I got to say, I am a little jealous of that!  We were all sad to go back home on Thursday, but also excited to get back to TJ.  We all missed him!  I miss our sweet friends every day.  We were all so close and still are.  In fact, so much so that the kids bicker just like brothers and sisters.  But, they all love each other and it was such a treat to spend so much time with them and make so many fun memories.  I am counting down the days until our next visit with them and until they move back to Peachtree City!!
