Super Bowl Sunday...and more

Where have the last 2 weeks gone? I had a wonderful opportunity to go to a women's retreat last weekend. So, TJ played Mr. Mom for the weekend. He and the kids had a fun time. They had dinner with friends both Friday and Saturday night. I would've loved to see how Saturday night went. TJ met 3 other dads and 6 other kids for dinner at a local pizza place. It sounded like they all had a great time, but it was chaotic. The best part of the night out was when TJ took our 2 children to the bathroom with him and re-lived his own version of the scene from Mr. Mom where the kids are going nuts in the bathroom. Luckily, no one walked in on his, but I think he had to wash Mady's hands 3 different times before they got back out. The rest of Saturday night was not so fun because Trip came down with the stomach flu, so he and TJ spent most of the night in the bathroom. The rest of our week looked like this...Mady sick Wednesday afternoon, Mommy sick Saturday afternoon, now just waiting for Daddy to get sick. Whenever I go away from the kids for more than a few hours, it seems like they've grown so much overnight. Mady's vocabulary is getting bigger every day. She is starting to put 2 to 3 words together to make sentences. My favorite thing she says is "I yike it." Translated as "I like it," but what she actually means is "I don't like it." It's quite confusing, but totally precious. And, Trip is becoming such a sweet boy. I had his parent/teacher conference this week and his teacher had nothing but nice things to say about him. The one I was happiest to hear about is how sweet and friendly he is to everyone in his class. No real surprise there.

After a not so fun Saturday, I woke up feeling better this morning, but we decided to cancel our little super bowl party we'd planned with friends and just have a party with the kids. So, we had Trip pick a team for us to cheer for. He picked the Colts because blue is their team color. I dressed he and Mady in blue to support our team. After naps, we all went outside to enjoy a little sunshine, something we've been missing most of the week. Trip practiced riding his big boy bike again, this time with a little more success, although he did fall off and skin his knee. Then, TJ and Trip made pigs in a blanket for our party. They were delicious. We let the kids just eat at the coffee table and had only finger food snacks for dinner. They thought it was so fun. Especially Trip, who never sat down for more than 10 seconds the entire time he ate. Now, they are both exhausted and out cold while TJ and I watch the rest of the game...Go Colts!
