What happened to the lazy days of summer?

I feel like there has been nothing lazy about this summer at all. We've been so busy! It's been busy with all kinds of fun things, but definitely not lazy at all. After returning from out trip to Wisconsin, we jumped right back into our busy summer. First, we met Kaki, Katie, Nicholas, Nolan and Katie's cousin Kristen at the GA Aquarium. This is Trip's 3rd time and Mady's second, although I don't think her first really counts since she was only about 6 months old. The place was packed! The cousins had a great time together. They are so small they can just squeeze up past all the adults and get a great view up against the big windows. My favorite part was watching them play with the penguins. They got right up on the big glass window to look and the penguins just kept swimming right up next to them, like they were playing a game. It was precious! The rest of our week was filled with play dates, catching up with friends we hadn't seen the last few weeks. We went swimming, went to a jump house and just played a lot! Over the weekend, TJ and the kids went one way, and I went another way for some good old fashioned girl time renewal! TJ took the kids up to my parents house to hang out with Grandad, Nicholas, Nolan and Uncle Graham. And, I met my mom and Katie for a fun girls' weekend. We ate delicious food, drank yummy wine, had makeovers and spa treatments...it was wonderful!! The daddies and kids had fun swimming and hanging out too. And, they did it all without any help from the mommies. Amazing!

The next week, I intentionally kept our plans to a minimum as we had to get ready for our beach trip with the Guerards to Isle of Palms, South Carolina. I drove the kids for 6.5 hours on Thursday all by myself! They did great. They are really getting to be great travelers. TJ joined us on Friday night after work. We all had such fun, playing on the beach and hanging out. The kids loved the ocean. Trip learned to use a boogie board and ride the waves and Mady loved jumping them (until she got a little cocky and wanted to do it "by myself" and got knocked right over by a big wave). They also made trails in the sand with the daddies that led to buried treasure. Our family of four shared two rooms. I tried spending the first night in the room with Mady sleeping in her pack and play. That did not turn out so well. She woke up around 3 am and once she realized I was sleeping in her room, all she wanted to do was chat. So, at about 6 am, after 3 hours of girl talk, I moved into Trip's room. He never even noticed that I had gotten into bed with him until he woke up around 9 a.m. I was so glad he slept in! So, the next night, TJ got to try sleeping with Mady. This time, she slept through the night, but woke up around 6 a.m. and then talked TJ's ears off until everyone else got up. Finally, on the last night, both kids slept well through the night. I think we'd finally worn them out! On our last night at the beach, we got a sitter and the adults went out for a delicious dinner. It was so nice to have some adult time on our vacation too.
Now, we have about 2 weeks to enjoy the "lazy" days of summer before preschool starts.
