Busy fall week

Why is it that the life gets so busy in the fall? I can't figure out how we always get so carried away once school gets going again. It's all fun stuff, for the most part, but so busy. I miss waking up in the morning, nothing to do, time to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on tv and eat cinnamon rolls. The sad thing to me is that I think it's just going to continue to get busier as the kids get older. In reality, those easy going mornings that Trip and Mady and I used to have so often (too much for me sometimes) with no big plans but to get a walk in before someone needed another nap are fading away. Why is it that we never enjoy how easy life is until we move on to another phase? In the middle of those days, it seemed so monotonous and almost boring sometimes. I felt tied down, like we could never leave home or do anything fun. And, now that we can do all those fun things I was longing for, I find myself longing for those slow days of just hanging around the house. There was no hanging around the house this past week! While all of us are working hard to get rid of this lingering cough and cold, we jetted all over town, to school, soccer games, parties, etc... On Fridays, we usually go to CBS (our bible study), but there was no CBS this week since it was a school holiday. So, I took Trip and Mady to the aquarium with my friend Alison and her two kids, Turner and Parker. It was a lot of work for the mommies, but totally worth it. The kids had a great time! Trip and Mady got to go at the end of the summer too and they remembered everything and were asking to see certain animals and exhibits again. We were all exhausted by the end, at least I was. But, we only had a few hours to rest up before we had to head out again for soccer practice. Trip is really gaining confidence on the soccer field. In fact, this practice his coach singled him out and told the other players on the team that if they wanted to know how to play soccer, they should watch Trip. Those words meant a lot to me, but they were so special to Trip. I could just see him beaming with pride. At the end of practice, Trip told the coach he was going to be the star of the game on Saturday! What confidence! Well, I wouldn't exactly call him the star, but he did a great job Saturday. He scored two goals and did a great job defensively against the other team. It's so nice to see him really trying hard and really enjoying himself, especially after our rough start to the season. After the game, TJ and Trip went on to a birthday party at a local animal/nature center. Trip had a blast; he got to pet all kinds of wild animals...an alligator, an iguana, snakes...I'm glad TJ was the one to take him and not me. Mady and I stayed home and rested and watched football. She is loving football, which makes TJ and I both smile. At one point, she turned to me and yelled, "First down!" And, it actually was a first down. Then, later that afternoon, Mady was watching a game and kind of swinging her arms around and TJ asked her what she was doing. Her reply: "I'm being a cheerleader." You know I love that! Saturday evening I hosted a celebration dinner for two of my friends that are having babies soon. It was nice to get out and have some fun girl time and celebrate with friends. After such a crazy Saturday, we took it easy on Sunday. After church, we all took huge naps! It was great. It's supposed to be the day of rest...right? Onto the next busy week, this week we have farms, firetrucks and lots of soccer to look forward to. Maybe I'll be able to find some time to hang out at home and enjoy these precious children too.
