The week of Plan B's

This past week has been all about Plan B. Nothing went according to its original plan, which if you know me at all, you know that Plan B and I do not get along very well. But, when your week goes like this, you just have to roll with it. It all started on Wednesday, when Trip's school field trip was cancelled due to the smallest amount of rain. Mady and I were going to join Trip and his class at a local farm for some fall fun. But, Mother Nature had other plans. We got about 1/4 inch or rain early in the morning on Wednesday, and the school decided to reschedule the trip for the following week. By the time I dropped Trip off at school, the sun was out and shining brightly! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the rain ends by Wednesday of this week, so we can go. Mady and I usually have her music class on Wednesdays, but in our plan B, we'd already gone to the Monday class. So, we had a full morning and no plans...what should two girls do??? Shopping, duh!! Mady and I had so much fun hanging out and shopping together. It's nice to have a little mini-me to do those things with. I don't know what was better, finding Packers shirts for she and Trip at Old Navy or sharing treats at Starbucks afterward.

Thursday, the kids and I had flu shots. I'd been worrying about this appointment since the day I scheduled it. Trip is terrified of shots and every time we go to the doctor, he asks if he will be getting one. And, if the appointment is for Mady, he makes sure to let everyone at the office know that he is not getting checked that day. So, I prayed for the nose kind of vaccine, since Trip had gotten that kind last year and done much better with that than a shot. But, they only had the shot form of the vaccine. So, time for another Plan B. I decided to let Trip go first, so that he would not just be sitting there watching Mady and I and getting more anxious. I pretty much had to pry him off the chair to get him to sit in my lap. The sweet nurse sat down next to us and just gave him the shot while he screamed in my lap. Of course, once it was over, he acted like it was no big deal and started laughing. Mady, had the exact opposite reaction. She was a little hesitant to lay on the table, but I started talking to her about what kind of treat we were going to get after our shots and she was easily distracted. The nurse poked her and these were Mady's exact words, "You hurt me...but I'm ok." No joke! Night and Day differences between these two. I was last and then we were off to Chick-fil-a for milkshakes for lunch! Nothing mends a sore leg or arm like chocolate!
On Friday, we had CBS (bible study) as usual. And, then soccer practice in the afternoon. As we were walking up the soccer fields, Trip decided to race and fell hard on the cement walkway. He skinned both knees really bad! After much convincing, Trip decided to go ahead and practice. I was very proud of him for getting up and moving on, especially with his big boo-boos. When we got home, TJ had dinner waiting for us, and then it was time for bed, so we could all get rested up for our busy Saturday. We dropped my car off for service Saturday morning, on the way to Trip's soccer game. He had a good game; he played really hard and had fun! Then, we stopped at the fire station on our way home to pick up some pumpkins for Halloween! In the past, we've gone to this way overpriced pumpkin patch, but Plan B visited again, and we decided to find a cheaper way to get a pumpkin. Every year, our fire departments sell pumpkins to raise money. We've never done this before, but I think we might do it every year from now on. The kids had fun picking out pumpkins, but the best part was the mini-tour of the trucks parked outside that one of the firemen gave them. They got to sit in a fire truck and an ambulance, and they even got a little toy. Super fun! That afternoon, we had family pictures. The girl who took our pictures, lives out on this amazing farm in Gay, Georgia...that's right, Gay! Anyway, the property is beautiful and it worked so well, because the kids could roam around and play between shots. There were plenty of Plan B's during the photo shoot. But, overall the kids did great. I can't wait to see how the pictures turn out! After the photo shoot, we took the kids out for dinner and then came home to watch the Bulldogs win again!

On Sunday, Trip had another game...our third visit to the soccer field for the week. We had plans to go to church with my parents in the morning and then take them to the game in the afternoon, but they called in the morning and weren't sure they'd be able to make it down. Yet, another Plan B. Thank goodness, they were able to come watch the game. It was so fun for Trip to have so many fans on the sidelines. After the game, TJ and the kids carved pumpkins. Trip decided he wanted a polka-dot pumpkin. TJ did a great job with it; it looks great! I'll have to take a picture and post it later. The kids were a big help, scooping out all the pumpkin goo. It was another busy, full, fun fall weekend.

Plan B and I have had enough time together this past week, I'd like to only see Plan A this week! PLEASE!!!
