We are marching through our transitions, heads held high, full speed ahead! Last week, we had the opportunity to spend lots of time with our dear friends, the Guerards, before they headed to the West Coast for the next 3 years! The kids came over for the day, while the moving truck packed their belongings. We had a great time! We played, colored, dressed-up, got ice cream treats and just had a super fun day! Then, we all got together, adults and kids, one last time on Friday night for a "home-cooked" meal and some play time! Saying good-bye was tearful, but I was proud at how well we held it together. :-)
We spent our last weekend before Trip started school just hanging out as a family. On Saturday, we went bowling. We've never done this just the four of us before, but it was so much fun! Trip definitely liked it better than Mady, but she still made it through all 10 rounds. When we first got there, it was cosmic bowling, so the fun lights and music kept Mady happy for a little while. And then, the promise to play games in the arcade after the bowling kept her going until the end. Trip did great (with the help of bumpers and a ball ramp). He beat us all! I came in last place, which is not surprising at all! Then, we went to dinner at Red Robin to end the night.
As most of you know, Monday went great for Trip (and the rest of us). He loved his first day of kindergarten! He was so excited to be up while it was still dark out. I wish I felt the same. And, he ate, got dressed and was all ready to go with time to spare. That has never happened before! We took the golf cart to the bus stop at the front of the neighborhood, and when the bus pulled up, he and his friend Jaxon jumped right on! We met him at the school to walk him to his class and take a few more pictures of the momentous occasion. TJ and I laughed at the gathering of golf carts parked all over the school campus...only in Peachtree City, but it's one of the things I love about this place. We all managed to make it through the morning with no tears, THANK YOU LORD! After we got Trip settled, Mady and I met some other mommies and younger siblings for breakfast at I-Hop (or Black Eye as Trip later called it). Then, she and I went swimming at the pool, just the girls! That afternoon, I could not wait for Trip to get home! We picked him up at the bus stop, full of smiles and so much to tell us about his day. I wasn't sure if he'd be too tired or just a typical boy and not feel like talking. But, we'd made him some cookies, so we all ate cookies and talked about our days. And, then, he asked to go upstairs and have a little alone time. So sweet! Mady was not happy about this request, but Trip only had a few minutes alone, when he came back down and invited her in his room to "hang out." From then on, it was like he'd been home all day: bickering, picking on each other, pushing buttons and no one able to share! Ahhhh...the sounds of home! :-) Thank you to all of you that showered us with your thoughts and prayers yesterday. I know that is why the day went so well for everyone! Keep praying, I know as we get less sleep each day, it's going to get a little harder to get up and be excited each day. But, we'll just keep marching on, taking one day at a time!
