Beachy Kuehns!

My parents are going to roll their eyes when they read this post, but I'm going to remind them of this anyway.  I remember one Labor Day weekend, we were all out as a family doing some yard work and I started complaining about it.  And, my dad in his fabulously sarcastic way, answered my whines with this, "It's Labor Day, a day for all children to do manual labor.  Why do you think we had kids?..to do our work for us!"  Needless to say, I refuse to do any kind of labor on Labor day now, so this year, we went to the beach!  My friend Shelley scored this amazing 3 bedroom house for a great price, so we could not resist, even though we could only stay for the long weekend.  She has a son, Matthew, that is Mady's age, but he and Trip played great together too!  We also shared the house with another awesome couple, Pat and Suzanne.  It was a great weekend spent lounging by the pool, playing in the sand, and just enjoying good food and good friends!  Shelley is one of my dearest friends from way back when I was young and still somewhat cool, so it was just such a treat to spend an entire weekend with her and Matthew.  It was the kind of weekend we would talk about having when we were still dreaming about being mommies.  I hope we get to make this an annual vacation!  The only downfall to this house and the neighborhood it was in, was the path to the beach.  It was a LONG, narrow, walkway that we named the "Trail of Tears" because we could not get back from the beach without at least one child crying over something...a splinter, sandy toes, hunger, thirst, or just general annoyance with each other.  :-)  Maybe next time we can afford a place on the beach...yeah right, maybe we'll just leave wheelchairs at the end of the walkway, so we can push our pathetic, tired munchkins.  Actually, that sounds pretty fun!

Silly kids!

Once we returned from our relaxing weekend at the beach, we jumped back into the busy Fall schedule!  The best part is spending the weekends watching Trip play soccer.  Mady decided not to play again this year, but she is rehearsing each weekend for her starring role as a mouse in the Nutcracker!  Stay tuned for precious pictures of our sweet mouse.   In the meantime, here is our talented kicker!  Trip's team had a rough start against their first opponent, they only scored one goal, but guess who scored that one goal...you got it, TRIP!  It really is a joy to watch him play; his smile never leaves his face.

So, here's to no labor on Labor Day and fun Fall afternoons!
