This weekend was a fun-packed weekend. We started the weekend by going back in time. One of the local churches put on this "Marketplace," which was set up to be like walking through an Old Testament town. When you walked in, the kids got to pick out a swatch of fabric that was then tied on their heads, so they looked like they came straight out of a bible story. Then, they were given 5 coins that they could use in the Marketplace. The funniest part was that you had to pay 1 coin to get into the Marketplace itself and Trip of course wanted to use one of my coins instead of his. His favorite part was shooting ping pong balls in a slingshot at a guy dressed like Goliath. He wasn't very good at shooting the sling shot, but he thought it was fun anyway.
Then, Saturday morning, we drove up to the North Carolina mountains to stay with some friends of ours: Arie and Jamie and their son Kai. Kai is about 3 weeks older than Mady, so it was fun to see her play with a little friend her age. Kai is almost walking, so Mady was just trying to keep up with him all weekend. Of course, when we got home, the first thing she did was pull herself up to a standing position. Won't be long now!
It was beautiful in the mountains and both kids really enjoyed it. We took a little hike on Sunday to this beautiful overlook where you could see mountains forever. Trip loved hiking. Arie had some binoculars that he let Trip play with and he thought he was a real explorer. It was nice to hang out with other parents too and just chill for the weekend. The cabin had an amazing view and it was so fun to get to light a fire and hang out when the kids were sleeping. Trip and Mady both did great during the long car ride. They are getting to be quite the travelers.
