Two of a kind

Mady and Trip have really started interacting together. She has always adored him and gotten a kick out of him and he has mostly been sweet to her, but now they are really having fun with each other. Today, on our way back from getting ice cream, Mady was making her usual high pitched squeals in the back seat and Trip started to chime in at a much louder decibel level. Just when I was about to tell him to use his inside voice, Mady let out a huge laugh. She thought Trip was hysterical. So, of course, I let him continue screaming so I could hear that precious laugh some more. They screamed back and forth at each other laughing the entire ride home. At lunch the other day Mady encouraged another bad Trip behavior. He was moving around all crazy, swinging his head from side to side (not eating) and she loved it and started laughing and copying him. Yet, another time I let Trip keep doing something annoying so I could hear her laugh and see that sweet smile. Now, every time she sits down to eat, Mady starts rolling her head around and shaking it from side to side. Meal times are so entertaining at our house.

Trip has said a few funny things lately, so I'm just going to lump them all together. The one that has been going on the longest is the most puzzling to me. "It can still see me." He says this about everything: food he eats or anyone else eats, kisses, hugs, when he waves to people, characters on tv, characters in books, things we drive past...just to name a few. There is no rhyme or reason and no similarity between the things that can still see him. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? If anyone knows, please let me know. The most recent funny thing was tonight when we were getting back in the car after getting ice cream. I put Trip in first while Mady was sitting in the stroller. Trip said we should just drive away and leave Mady in the stroller. Then I asked him what would happen to her if we did that. And, he said "Maybe someone will drive by and pick her up, someone that doesn't have a baby sister yet." Keep dreaming big guy; she's not going anywhere. :-) This final quote is a perfect example of life with a 3 year old. We were driving to school this morning, nothing unusual, Trip was in a good mood, I thought, and then he said "When I get to school, I'm going to tell everyone in my class they are stupid." WHAT?! I was shocked, and of course reacted that way. This reaction then made him start crying and tell me he was sorry. He's like a woman going through PMS. Everyday is full of ups and downs. I just try and cherish the ups and move on quickly from the downs. And, enjoy car rides with screaming, laughing little ones.
