Pathetic snow day

Well, we got a light dusting of snow last night, so today was a "snow day" if you actually want to call it that. There was so little snow and it was so dry that you couldn't even make a mini snowman with it...we tried. Trip woke up so excited about the snow. He and I had gone out for a few minutes the day before when it fell a little. And, he'd seen it falling last night around 10:30 p.m...oh yes, he was still awake then. So, when he woke up at 8:30 (yeah!) this morning and saw the ground slightly covered he was thrilled. He immediately asked to go out and play in it. I convinced him to have breakfast first, by bribing him with cinnamon rolls, our favorite family breakfast treat. Mady had missed the snow the day before because she was napping and doesn't remember it from last year. So, when she came down and saw it was white outside, she was a little afraid at first. She took my hand and made me walk over to the window with her for her to look out. After our delicious breakfast, I began the process of bundling the two munchkins up. This took much longer than I anticipated. But, 30 minutes later, we were finally out the door to play in the snow. Trip ran right out and started jumping around and trying to make snowballs. Mady, who is much more like her mom in the snow wasn't really sure what all the fuss was about and was pretty timid about stepping on the snow covered ground at first. Both kids wanted to take their gloves off, but I managed to get them to both keep them on until right before we came inside. We only stayed out for about 10-15 minutes (half the time it took to get bundled up in the first place) and I told Trip he could take off his gloves for the last 2 minutes we were outside. Mady, of course followed. Trip immediately went to pick up a pile of snow and when he realized that the cold hurt so bad that it stung his fingers, he was over needing his gloves off and was ready to come inside. We came back inside and took off our cold, wet clothes and shared some hot chocolate and cookies. Trip is really hoping it snows some more soon, so we can actually make a snowman. I am hoping if that happens that TJ will be home, so he can go out and do that with Trip. I am with Mady, I don't really see what all the fuss is about. I'd rather be inside, warm and toasty, watching tv in my pjs.
