Laid back weekend

Finally...a laid back weekend. This time change has thrown Trip and Mady for a loop, so it was nice to have a relaxing weekend. We all started the weekend on Thursday. TJ got some free tickets to take Trip to see the Atlanta Thrashers play hockey. The best part was that one of Trip's friends, Brad, was going with his dad too, so he was thrilled. The boys had a great time! And, the girls decided to go out for some girl time too. What better way for two girls to spend some time than to go eat some ice cream! Mady and I went to Marble Slab and got a huge cup of ice cream mixed with candy...M&Ms and sprinkles. We ate it all up! Mady kept saying, "mo candy pees momma." As we were finishing up our treat, a group of about 15 teenage girls came in. Mady was mesmerized and could not take her eyes off of them and all I could think was this is going to be Mady's world sooner than I can imagine.

Friday night we took the kids to a local church that was hosting a "Marketplace." It's a way to journey back to what it was like when Jesus was alive, although some things date back before that. Trip's favorite part is the person dressed as Goliath. Kids get to use sling shots and shoot Goliath with ping pong balls. Mady's favorite part was making wine, by squishing fake grapes. She loved it because she got to take her shoes and socks off. They both loved the cookies they bought with their gold coins. It's a really neat family experience.

We had to wake sweet Trip up while it was still dark on Saturday morning. His game was scheduled for 9 a.m., but he had to be at the field at 8 a.m. for pictures. Once again, he had a blast playing t-ball. He smiled the whole time and just had a great game. Mady, who is turning into quite the daddy's girl, insisted that TJ hold her, so she helped him coach first base. The above picture is of our family approach to playing t-ball. The best part of the game was Trip's new team mate. His name is Luke Sky Walker, that's right! Unfortunately, he doesn't really live up to his name. Each time after he hit the ball, he refused to let go of the bat and would run about half way to first base and just stand there. I don't think he ever made it around the bases. I guess he needed his life saber instead of a bat. After the game, we came home and played outside. It was so nice out, warm and sunny. After naps, we took the kids over to the Peachtree City airport and they played on the playground next to the airport and watched planes take-off and land. It was really cool.

The way we spent our weekend, reminded me of my childhood. It was just so nice not to be on the run and to spend some great quality time together as a family.
