Oh wow! Where have I been? Ok, so we drove down to Naples,Florida for Spring Break a couple of weeks ago. By "we" I mean, myself, Trip, Mady, my friend Libby, and her two daughters, Addy (4) and Gracy (2). The kids were really great in the car, both ways, even for the 15 plus hour drive home that Friday! We had fun playing in the pool and going to the beach. The weather was awesome and it was nice to get a break from every day living. But, oh, how nice it was to finally pull into Peachtree City at 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. I don't think Libby and I will ever do that drive again, at least not during Spring Break.
This past weekend, my family came down to celebrate my Dad's birthday and see Trip play t-ball! Trip was so excited to have everybody come watch him play. Although, I think he was most excited to see his friend, Turner. It is so fun to watch he and his teammates. It's like a comedy. When they are in the field, either they all go for the ball, or no one goes for the ball. When they are batting, no one pays attention to who is up next or when the other players hit the ball. But, the best part, by far, is watching Trip run the bases. He never stops smiling. He is also really good at staying in the "ready" position when he is on the field, which is really hard for a 4 year old!
This year it was such a joy to celebrate Dad's birthday! Not only because we got yummy cake and ice cream, but mostly because the Lord has blessed us with more time with Dad. Last year at this time, we had no idea how fragile life could be. After his bout with esophageal cancer this past fall/winter, we've all been reminded how special our family is and most importantly, how awesome our Lord is! It is through His divine power and strength that Dad is now a cancer survivor and we can celebrate yet another wonderful year of his life! I love you, Dad! Here's to many, many more years to come!
Finally, on Sunday, we joined Trip's t-ball team at the Brave's game. He and his teammates got to walk around the field before the game. Despite having to wait for over an hour on the stadium ramps, they had a great time. Mady was cheering for him even before he got on the field. They both had so much fun watching the game. We definitely have two more sports lovers in our family. We stayed through the 5th inning, even though it was during nap time, with zero meltdowns. I think TJ and I were more ready to go than they were. Before we left, we went to the upper deck of the field and let the kids "run the bases." It's a little set up with two bases and the kids can try and run as fast as possible from one base to the other. I love watching them run! They are both getting to be so big and they are each so precious in their own special way. But, I must say, my favorite part of the game was sharing cotton candy with Trip...YUMMY!
