Easter's on it's way! We have had a great week, playing with Pitty, getting ready for Easter and celebrating our Risen Lord today with Kaki and Grandad! Monday, after Pitty got into town, was still cloudy and chilly, so we went through her entire bag of tricks. We colored Easter eggs, strung big beads into necklaces that turned into choo choo trains, made gooey sculptures with these crazy blocks and painted piggy banks. Tuesday she and I picked the kids up from school in the golf cart as the weather turned much more Spring-like. After naps, we went out to dinner with TJ at Longhorns. Mady is such a little piggy. She asked for "maroni and cheese," but decided she'd also like to eat everything mommy had on her plate. I spent most of dinner fending her off, so I could enjoy my dinner too. On Wednesday, Patty and I took the kids to the toy store and then out to a picnic at the park. It was a beautiful day and we were all worn out by the time we got home for naps. Trip had t-ball practice that evening and Pitty got lots of great laughs watching these 4 year olds "practice" playing baseball. They are hysterical, but, Trip loved being able to show off for her. On Thursday, Pitty and Mady and I got to join Trip and his class for their Easter egg hunt and Easter party. Thank goodness Pitty was there to help entertain Mady while the other moms and I hid the eggs. After the party, we took Trip and Mady back to the park for a little while and then to chick-fil-a for lunch and more playing. Trip was so sad when we took Pitty to the airport; he refused to let her go. It was so sweet.
Friday we spent our morning as usual at CBS, but this time we had Daddy to come home to because he had the day off. Trip and Mady both think its such a great treat to have Daddy home during the week. On Saturday we had our church's Easter egg hunt. Both kids had a blast and filled their Easter baskets to the top with Easter eggs. It took Mady a little while to catch on. She wanted to open each egg at first, but she realized she could get a lot more if she just piled them in her basket and opened them later. Trip really wanted to find the gold/silver eggs because they came with special prizes; he didn't even want the other eggs, but I convinced him to pick some of them up too. Saturday evening we watched our friends' kids, Turner and Parker, so they could have a date night. Mady wants to be a big kid so bad. It was so fun to watch her mimic them and try to do everything they did.
Sunday morning was our third and final egg hunt for the week. Trip was so good about letting Mady get the eggs on the floor while he found the ones up higher. Kaki and Grandad met us for church and lunch afterward. The kids played with their easter gifts all day and ate tons of candy. They both passed out at the end of the day from sugar highs. From a parent's perspective here's how the day went: our camera broke, so we barely got any pictures of our precious children, we barely made it to church on time, the grill wasn't working for TJ to grill out our Easter burgers...but over all, we were reminded of our Risen Lord and his sacrifice for our lives. Now, the kids and I are off the to beach for Spring Break! Thank you Tom and Patty!
