Go Pack Go!!!

What a fun weekend we had, ending with a great Packer Super Bowl Win! As Trip exclaimed... "We are the champions!" I have a feeling this will be the first of many, big history-making sporting events that Trip will remember from childhood. Our weekend started off with a fun visit from Grandad and Kaki. I was feeling under the weather, so it was nice to have some extra distractions for the kids. The best part was watching Grandad watch videos on YouTube of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets with Trip in his lap and Mady hanging over his shoulder. TJ recently pulled out his Muppet DVDs to show the kids and Trip and Mady both love them. I told Trip that my favorite was the Chef, so we looked up some videos of just him online. Well, Trip (and Mady) crack up at these. But, my dad cracks up more than anyone else. And, to watch the three of them, just even to listen to them, was hilarious! I could not stop smiling and laughing with them! Trip and Mady have also fallen in love with the old Disney cartoons, especially the one about the 3 little pigs. Trip laughs so hard when the wolf gets beat up by the third little pig! It makes me laugh just because his laugh is so infectious. On Saturday night, TJ took Mady on a "real" date. Chick-fil-a sponsored a "Daddy-Daughter Date Night," where dads bring their daughters to have dinner. They put white table clothes on the tables, and serve them instead of ordering at the counter and just make it really special. Mady and TJ got all dressed up and TJ even got her a flower for the big night. Then, they picked up some friends and went out to dinner! So, Trip and I took my parents out for pizza and met my friend Alison and her son Parker as well. Although, Trip had a great time at his favorite pizza place, he could not stop talking about how unfair it was that Mady got to go with Daddy and how he wished he was with Daddy and he didn't want to be on a date with me. Really made me feel special and appreciated! I don't know why it amazes me how selfish little ones can be and how unappreciative they are of all the things we do for them. So, to my parents, whom I complained to ALL the time...THANK YOU for all you did to make my childhood (and adulthood) special! Sorry for being 3o something years late on the thanks. :-) Sunday, we went to church and came home to get ready for the big game. I really am not sure who was more excited...TJ, Trip or Mady. The best part of the day was that it was finally nice enough to go outside and play, so we did! And, there were lots of other little ones out playing too, so Trip and Mady played with their neighbor friends. It is really getting so fun to see them make new friends and play with the kids that live close by. We had a great time watching the game with friends! One couple and their 6 year old daughter even stayed until the end of the game. So, Trip got to stay up and watch the Packers win! He conked out about 5 minutes later! Yay Packers!!!

This week has been a very sentimental one for me. I registered Trip for kindergarten last Tuesday, and was shocked by how emotional it made me. I cannot believe my little boy is going to be in the big "K" next year! How did that happen? I know people tell you all the time how fast it goes, but no matter how hard I try to take it all in, I still feel like I missed something. I just keep thinking back to when it was just me and that precious, little baby boy. I remember just holding him, after he nursed, and looking down at him and thinking "Ok, now what? Now, what should I do with this little lump to keep him awake for a little bit until his next little nap?" Now, I just wish he would stop running around and talking long enough for me to hold him and be bored again. But, time moves on and so does he...at the speed of sound! So much sound, sometimes its hard to hear myself think. But, boy will I miss all that noise next year when he is at school. At least I've still got his even LOUDER sister to keep me on my toes, a few more years anyway. What a blessing God has granted me in these two gifts!
