On Thursday, pigs flew in Georgia! We went to school with snow on the ground. That NEVER happens. And, I am certain the only reason it did this time is because we used most of our snow days earlier in January with the big ice storm. Trip and Mady thought it was so cool to get to go to school in the snow. We exited the house about five minutes early, so they could "play" in it before we loaded up in the car. After just minutes of grabbing the very icy snow in their hands, Trip and Mady both started complaining that their hands hurt. I was actually prepared for that and brought them each a warm, dry pair of mittens to wear in the car to warm their icy, little hands up. They are really southern children. Mady's class got to go out and play in it and eat some snow at school. She loved that! And, then they had their valentine party. Mady came home with tons of candy. Whatever happened to just sending in those little valentines cards? Now, everyone sends in candy or stickers or pencils. It's crazy! When we got home, I let them play in the snow some more because it was warming up fast and I knew it would all be melted by the time they got up from naps. They were sad the snow left so quickly, but I was glad to see it go...please don't come back this year!
Then, Trip and I took Mady to get her first hair cut on Friday afternoon. I decided to take her to the Aveda Salon that I go to and let my stylist do her hair, at least for this first time. I was so worried that she would lose all the curl after the cut, or that it would look too short, so I wanted someone I trusted to do the first one. Mady felt so special. She walked right in and introduced herself to Mackenzie, my stylist. She loved having her hair washed. And, the look on her face as she passed the mirrors and saw her hair wrapped in a towel like Mommy was priceless. I was surprised by how calm and quiet she was as Mackenzie cut her hair. But, after about 1o minutes, she started getting antsy and acting like her normal crazy self. Her hair cut is adorable. It's not noticeably shorter, but it does look healthier and the curls look better. And, big brother Trip was very good at explaining how it didn't hurt and how he gets his hair cut with Daddy. And, then he chilled with his video games. TJ met us afterward for dinner at Red Robin. Yummy! Then it was time to head back home and go to bed. Mady has been telling everyone all about her special appointment and her new 'do! I know she felt like such a princess and a big girl. Now, if only we could get her out of pull-ups!
Saturday, the weather started turning warmer, so we took Trip and Mady to this creek-side trail that is just right across the road from our neighborhood. We hiked around in the woods, hunting for bears and looking at the beautiful scenery. I can't wait to go back there when the weather is even nicer. Then, TJ and I had a date night, while our friends watched, fed and bathed Trip and Mady along with their children. It was a fun pre-Valentine night! I am REALLY looking forward to this week and the warm, sunny weather we are expecting. I hope we can get outside every day! I am ready for winter to move on out of here!
