Grandparent Time

Our summer has kicked off with a busy start! The week after Mady's birthday, both kids had swim lessons. They both did great! This was the first year that Trip just jumped right in, no tears and really loved it. And our fearless Mady jumped right in too. On the last day, she even got to dive off the diving board and swim to the side all by herself! It was so nice (and somewhat) comforting to watch both of them swim confidently by themselves. Mady still forgets to come up for air, so she still needs an adult in the pool with her, but they are both little fishies! After our last day of swim lessons, my mom met us for lunch and took Trip back up with her for a weekend of fun! He'd had a bad cough the night before, so we were worried we might have to reschedule his time with Grandad and Kaki, but he seemed better the next day, so we sent him on his way. Well, of course, he swam all day and had lots of fun, but ended up with a fever that night! He was such a trooper though and wanted to be there so bad, that he would not let his sickness get the best of him and stayed and played Sunday too. But, on Monday, Kaki had to bring him back early so I could take him to the doctor and sure enough, he had strep throat! Poor kid! Other than the nasty looking throat and terrible cough, you'd never have known he was sick. The best part for me was that Kaki agreed to stay a couple of days with us, so I could get some cleaning done around the house and start gearing up for our VBS. The kids loved having Kaki here and so did I. I got all of my cupboards cleaned and reorganized and I got my fridge and freezer cleaned out too. Plus, I was able to get our house all ready for our next guest...Pitty!

After sadly saying goodbye to Kaki, the kids only had one day with lame Mommy before grandmother visit number 2! Pitty's flight was delayed Thursday morning, so we didn't get to see her until after lunch, but the kids were so excited to go pick her up! They had a great weekend with her. We picked berries, had frozen yogurt, went swimming, and played and played and played. TJ and I even got to go on a date night while she was here too! It really is so great that Pitty is able to get down here so often to spend time with us. It is so important to TJ and I that our children have a close relationship with all of their grandparents. Trip and Mady can learn so much from them, and most importantly be loved on and spoiled by them.

So, thank you to my mom and my mother-in-law for spending time with us last week! It was a joy to have you both here! Thank you for loving our children, for passing on your wisdom to them and to me and for your encouragement and support! I love you both greatly and thank God for blessing me and my children with such great grandparents!
