Officially 3!!

Our baby girl is officially 3 years old! We've been celebrating all week, but today was the real deal. When I went to get Mady this morning, as soon as I opened her door, she said, "Is today my birthday?" After I said yes and wished her happy birthday, she informed me that now that she was three she was going to put all her pee pee and poo poo in the potty. I didn't want to get my hopes up too high, because I have heard this from her before, but she did! She stayed dry all day and even pooped for the first time in the potty! I am so excited! I just hope it continues. We had a fun day celebrating Mady. TJ got up before the kids and went to the store to get Mady a beautiful bouquet of purple and pink flowers. He also brought home donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast and a balloon for the birthday girl! She was thrilled! Mady had a few presents remaining to open, including the bedding for her big girl bed. Then, Daddy took her on a date to the playground. Trip went to Monkey Joes with some friends. So, TJ and I took Mady to get frozen yogurt for her lunch. We were on a big health kick today. You only turn three once!! Then, after a huge nap, we skyped Aunt Betsy, which is always an adventure. We had dinner and Peppermint Pie for birthday desert, per Mady's request. Mady also reminded us that when you are 3, you can have gum, so she smacked on some gum for the rest of the evening. After a bubble bath and a half dozen phone calls with all of her admirers, we put Mady to bed in her big girl bed. While she has not come out to chat with us, which was our big concern, she is having a hard time staying in her bed and going to sleep. This transition is not going to be an easy one. From the moment Mady started moving around in my womb, I knew she was going to be a fun and crazy girl! I still remember right after she was born and she'd been all cleaned off, my dad came in to see her. As he was holding her against his chest, she pushed away and held her head and looked right in his eyes. All of us in the room knew then that Mady was going to be very different from her laid back brother. She is confident, funny, a little bossy, but mostly precious. She knows what she wants and that is to be in control and for the most part she finds a way to be in control all the while charming all she comes in contact with. She is warm and caring and wants everyone to be happy. She has no fear and will try almost anything. She has livened up our lives and they will never be the same. I thank God for blessing us with such a perfect daughter! Watching her grow has been and will continue to be a wonderful adventure!
