Last week, we continued the celebrations of the school year ending and started the celebration of Mady's third birthday! Both kids had their end of the year parties last Thursday. This would've been really easy for me to manage, except that Mady's teacher decided to do their party away from school, at someone's house. So, Mady and I dropped Trip off, went to Mady's party for a little bit and then went back to school to finish up the partying with Trip! Mady's class party was lots of fun. Her classmate that hosted the party has 3 older siblings, so there were lots of toys to play with. They had an inflatable pool, bikes, scooters, a slip and slide and lots of treats! Mady had a great time with her friends and was so sad to say goodbye to her teachers. She looked like she was going to cry. I am so thankful she has had such a wonderful year and enjoyed her teachers so much. They have made it such a joy and so much fun for those kids to come to school each week. And, Mady has felt so loved and cared for by them! I know she will be excited to stop by their room next year when she goes back to school. Even though I know she wanted to stay, we had to head over to Trip's party for a little bit. I really wanted to be there for some of it, since it was his last party at this preschool! We missed their ice cream snack, but made it in time to go outside and play some games with them. Mady unknowingly agreed to be someone's partner in the three-legged race. And, when I realized what they were doing, I knew Trip was going to end up in tears, but I didn't realize Mady would too. So, they were both done with the games after the first one. But, they dried their tears and decided to stay outside and make the best of it and managed to have a great time! Trip's class has been such a sweet group of kids. Their teachers did such a wonderful job preparing them for next year in kindergarten and encouraging them to talk to each other and take care of each other. Trip is really going to miss all of his classmates. After all that party-hopping I was not in the mood to go home and make lunch, so we went to our favorite pizza place and had a celebratory lunch of cheese dip, cheese bread and lemonade! It doesn't get much better than that.
The celebrations continued on Saturday as we celebrated Mady's birthday with close to 20 of her (and Trip's) closest friends and their parents. We had such a great time! Mady has never had a big birthday party celebration, so this was just so special. And, everyone that came is special to our family in one way or another. We did a party with her music class teacher, and all the kids and parents had so much fun. Then, we had pizza, Ariel birthday cake and opened presents. Mady was just so sweet, greeting each person as they arrived and was so excited to see them all. She loved being the center of attention! She is really quite the hostess. She gets that from her grandmothers. Both Pitty and Kaki really know how to throw a good party and make all of their guests feel special!
And, now the summer is upon us. So far, each morning the kids have gotten up and asked me what "fun thing" are we doing that day? So, I will now take on the role of preschool camp counselor as I plan "fun things" for us to do each day? My first "fun thing" was berry picking! I think I'm off to a pretty good start. If only we had some "fun" toys to play with here each day...oh wait...we do! Hmmmmm! Someone should tell Trip and Mady!
