I am calling this entry crazy sleep, but it might be better titled "Sleep? Who needs sleep?" Apparently, Trip doesn't and he doesn't think the rest of us do either. His sleeping habits have not improved much over the last week, but they have gotten a little more humorous. He seems to be having shorter fits when we leave his room, but he is staying up late and doing funny things. The other night he was up until 11:30 pm. I went to sleep before him. A couple of nights ago, we gave him one of those stress balls and told him that when he got frustrated or angry at bed time to squeeze the ball instead of screaming and throwing a fit. So, that night, after TJ left the room, he started in with his now typical screaming fit. A few minutes into the fit, TJ heard him yell, "Squeeze the ball!" And, after that self-reminder, he calmed down and then stayed up a few more hours, falling asleep with his light on and all his window shutters wide open. Then, on Tuesday night, after having no nap that afternoon (something we are testing going without), Trip's fit only lasted about 5 minutes, and then he calmed himself down and fell asleep pretty quickly (we thought). But, when TJ went to check on him and turn off his light and close his shutters again, he found that Trip had brought a few fun things into bed with him...his dirty clothes, his hand sanitizer, a toy car, his sippy cup and a piece of track from his train table. So, TJ removed the hard objects and went back to bed. At about 5 am, I heard Trip get up and turn his light back on and open his shutters back up. I heard a little more noise, but he went back to bed pretty quickly, so I didn't think too much of it. When I went in to get him around 8:30, his bed was full again with even more things. This time, he got back everything TJ had removed and also added all that was left of the track on his train table. Sounds comfortable, right? Well, it gets even better. The pictures included in this entry are from last night and this morning. Trip's fit was fairly short last night, but he stayed up for another hour busily working on something in his room. The picture where his head is wrapped in his sheet is what TJ found at about 11 pm before he went to bed. Trip's sleep aids now included, everything from the previous night along with some books, some more toys and this huge waterfall tunnel from his train table. At about 3 am, Trip called for TJ and I, so knowing that it was probably not anything serious, TJ went to check on him anyway. Trip had peed in his Pull-Up (another fun regression that goes along with the sleep issues) and wanted TJ to lay with him. TJ changed his Pull-up, but then left, leaving Trip to have a middle of the night fit. FUN! Somehow Mady slept through it all. Trip stayed up until about 5:30 a.m., occasionally calling for Mommy and Daddy, but mostly just making a lot of noise, busy at work and up to no good. This morning when I went in to wake him up for school, I found one passed out boy at the foot of his bed because the rest of his bed was covered in pretty much anything he could find and get in his bed. The other attached picture is what I found. The new additions to his bed friends, included a dirty, pee-filled Pull-Up (GROSS), a trash can, the trash from that can, all of his Pull-Ups poured out of the bag, and tons of clothes. I do not know how in the world he fell asleep in that room, with his light on, shutters open and a bed full of junk! I really hope this ends soon, but at least it's getting funny!
