Pick up lines

Oh, the mating ritual starts so early. Today, we went to this little park down the street to have a picnic as a family, but this cute 4 year old girl, Kate, changed those plans. She was already there with her mom and another little girl, Sophie, and they sat at the picnic table next to ours. While her mom and friend played, Kate came back to the table and sat down. After exchanging a few awkward glances, Trip told us that he was going to go sit next to "that girl." So, he did just that...walked right over and sat down next to her. He didn't say anything for a few minutes and then he started mumbling something we couldn't really hear. He looked at TJ and I and told us not to look at him. And, then, next thing you know, it was like they were best friends and were talking like they'd know each other for ever. At one point, Kate and he friend Sophie (her friend who'd decided to join in the conversation with this amazing 3 year boy) told Trip they were 4 and 5 and they asked how old he was. Trip replied, "I'm three. I'm older. I'm really tall." And, then he stood really tall to show them how big he was. He talked with them until they decided to go home and have popsicles. Then, we stayed and played for a while. Trip is getting really good at climbing up things, which really scares me. He did the rock wall and 2 other climbing walls on the playground all by himself.

Mady, of course, has no fear. She started climbing up the stairs of the playground to be where Trip and Daddy were. She got distracted by some tasty dirt, but made it up to the top of the stairs. She also started crawling on all fours finally. She still does her army crawl when she wants to get somewhere fast. The other cute thing we've noticed her doing is "Vrooming" cars. Apparently, she's taken notes from her big brother and knows what sounds cars makes. So, when she is able to steal one from Trip's pile, she will drive it back and forth and make a "vroom" noise.

Despite the lack of sleep we've all been getting due to Trip's shenanigans, we still had a fun day at the park together.
