Tonight we had a little dinner experiment. TJ had to work late, so I decided to try fish sticks with the kids. This used to be one of my favorites when I was younger and they were on sale at the store last week. Lately, Trip has been really interested in eating meat. He always asks if he is eating meat, every meal. I think the interest comes from all the books about dinosaurs we've been reading and how some were meat-eaters and others ate plants. Anyway, I told him that they were "meat" sticks. Mostly true, I just didn't specify what kind of meat. He was excited by the name and open to trying them. My plan was to tell him what kind of meat it was after he ate some and said he liked it. He made it about half way through one stick telling me that he liked it. And, then, for some reason, he decided he didn't like it anymore and would not have another bite of his "meat sticks."
Mady, our little pig, ate all of hers. She also pointed to the ketchup as I was pouring some for Trip. So, I asked her if she wanted to try and it and she, of course, said "uh-huh." So, I put a little in a bowl for her and she loved it. She was very neat with her dipping at first, and then she got messy. First, she dipped her "meat sticks" and then she dipped her sweet potato fries, and then she decided to dip her grapes. Apparently, this tastes better than it sounds because she dipped every single grape on her plate. I took a few pix to capture the moment.
