Trip has really been into super heroes, good guys vs. bad guys, ever since we watched the Incredibles with him this summer. So, of course, he was so excited to go to his friend Asher's Super Hero birthday party this week. He and Mady had been battling a virus since the weekend, but Trip was fever free, so my neighbor took him to the party, while Mady and I stayed home. Trip was given a super hero cape when he got to the party, and he brought Mady's home to her. They both love wearing them! At the party, Asher's dad, Andy dressed up as a bad guy...Bubble Man. Covered in bubble wrap and coming in a cloud of smoke provided by a smoke machine, came to the party with a cake bomb ready to destroy Asher's cake. Trip was terrified! Apparently, he started crying. I guess he thought Bubble Man was a real bad guy. So, my friends calmed him down and Asher saved the day by tackling his dad, Bubble Man. And, then all the kids joined in, including Trip, and popped Bubble Man's bubbles. Trip has not stopped talking about Bubble Man. He says he knows it was just Mr. Andy dressed up, but he still seems a little worried that Bubble Man may come to our house. At nap time and night time, Trip asks us what we will do if a bad guy comes to the house and he always wants to make sure we have the alarm set. He has such a vivid imagination.
He has been a super boy lately too, especially when it comes to using the potty. He almost always goes standing up. He wipes when he drips on the floor and he has even started wiping his bottom after he goes #2. Pardon all the potty talk, but we are just so proud of him. In fact, the other day when I went to wake him from his naptime, I noticed that his pants were on backwards. When I said something about not even realizing that I had put them on backward before his nap, he told me he had done it. During nap time, he called for me because he needed to go pee and I didn't hear him, so he got out of bed, went to the bathroom all by himself and even put his clothes back on and went to bed! I was upstairs and I didn't even hear him do it. I could not believe it! Pulling his pants off is one thing, but he's never shown me that he could pull them back up. Who cares if it was backwards! I am impressed!
Here's a new Trip quote of the week: In one of his not so super moments, TJ and Trip were downstairs cleaning up for the night. Trip, as usual, was more interested in playing with the toys than putting them up. He had come across his toy stethoscope and had to play with it too. When TJ told him to put it away, Trip said, "But, I need to give you a check up." TJ told him right now he needed to clean up. So, then Trip followed that with, "Okay, but you're just going to be sick from now on." Such a good doctor!
And, just so this post won't be all about Trip, Mady is cutting 3 new teeth! Two on top, in the back and one on bottom. It's must be hurting, because she's having a hard time sleeping and she's cranky when she's awake. I'm just waiting for that sweet, silly girl to return.
