Labor Day weekend

Yeah! College football started this weekend. I think TJ got Trip almost as excited as we were about watching the Bulldogs play football on TV, but partway through the game, he said he was going to cheer for the Cowboys instead. WHAT!? Mady's favorite part of college football starting was all the yummy treats to snack on. We watched the first part of the game at our house and at halftime we went over to the Davenport's house. They have a daughter in kindergarten, a son in Trip's class at preschool and another daughter a little younger than Mady. Mike and Libby McCleery also came over with their 2 girls. We grilled out over there and had a fun time. Our kids play really well together, so the adults were actually able to eat and enjoy each other's company. That hardly ever happens, especially when you have 7 kids in one house.

Earlier that day, TJ had taken Trip to get his haircut. He has this one bald spot on the side of his head, that you never notice until his hair is cut. It's so weird. When we first told him Daddy was going to take him to get his haircut, he started to cry. But, we bribed him with a trip to get a donut and chocolate milk if he did a good job and it worked. He was so proud of himself for not crying and he said that now he likes to get his haircut. We'll see if he is still saying that next time he has to go. My guess is he'll need another donut to like getting his haircut.

On Sunday, I took the kids up to see my parents, so TJ could get some work done at home and so I could do some fall clothes shopping at the outlets. They both did great in the car there and back and we had lots of fun. One of Trip's favorite parts of the visit was the bulldozer in their yard that is being used to dig a pool. He asked if he could sit in the digger and let the bulldozer lift him up. Maybe next time. :-)

Tonight, we put on our team t-shirts and went to Chick-fil-a for free chicken sandwiches. It's a promotion they were doing for Labor Day. Nothing like a free (well, almost free...we had to have chocolate milk and milkshakes too) dinner to end a fun weekend!
