Trip started off this Halloween weekend yesterday at school. He got to wear his Braves baseball costume to school. Then, the kids marched around the school in a parade to show off their costumes to the parents. The parade ended in the auditorium where the kids sang some of their favorite songs they'd been learning in music class. At first, Trip was a little apprehensive about the whole thing. He didn't want everyone looking at him in the parade and he didn't want to sing, but once it all started, he really got into it. It was so cute to watch him sing all the songs. And, Mady loved it. She was acting like she was one of the students....trying to follow along with the songs and watching her big brother. Then, we got to join Trip in his classroom for his party. This was my favorite part, because the teacher pulled a chair up next to Trip for Mady to sit in, so she could enjoy some of the party snacks with her big brother. They were so cute. Trip was just so sweet to Mady, wanting to show her his room and include her in everything. And, she adored him. You could tell she thought she was such a big girl, sitting with him in his class. Mady was supposed to dress up and go to her music class yesterday too, but we had to skip it to be a part of Trip's party. So, she and I are going to make up her class this weekend. I don't think she missed it though, she had such a great time with her big brother.
Then, we met our friends at the park for lunch after school. Trip found an ant hill and was so immersed in watching it that he didn't notice as the ants starting crawling up his pants. Once they started biting, he started screaming! So, we had to undress him at the park and get all those mean ants out of his pants. He was so upset; it was really sad. Hopefully, he will be a little more careful around ants now.
Mady's vocabulary is really starting to grow each day. She is also getting more independent, wanting to do things on her own. She's been using her spoon and fork when eating and wants to have her plate, not just a few bites of food on her place mat. She is also really into buckling and unbuckling belts, like the ones on the booster seat, high chair and stroller. Won't be long and she'll figure out her car seat. I'm really looking forward to that day!
