Feeling like summer already

The last few weeks have been full or warm, sunny...beautiful weather and we have been enjoying it! There's been so much to do, time has been flying by and I can't believe our sweet Mady will be 2 soon! She is talking so well and so much lately. She can string 3-5 words together and make a pretty coherent sentence. It's so fun to listen to her talk and have real conversations with her. She loves to sing and dance too; sometimes I feel like we live in a musical (a very dramatic one). I've been meaning to write down some of her precious quotes and I keep forgetting. I promise to do that soon.

Last weekend was fun-filled. We had a t-ball game in the morning. Trip was awarded the game ball and he was so proud and excited! Then we went to Peachtree City's annual Touch-a-Truck, where they have all kinds of trucks, cars, and construction vehicles and kids can sit in them and push their buttons. This is the 3rd year we've gone, but I must say that each year there are less and less vehicles. Trip and Mady still both love it. I think their favorite truck this year was the ambulance because they could lay down on the stretcher. Watching them do this made me think that I hope to never see them on a stretcher again. :-) I loved watching them try on the fireman's things like their huge coats and hats. I wish we had our camera, so I could get some pix on here. That night, some friends of ours watched the kids, so TJ and I could have a date night. TJ and I bought a new digital camera, so hopefully, we will be able to add pictures to the blog again soon. Everyone had fun on "Date night." Apparently, our children behave really well when we aren't around. If only they would do the same for us. Mady got her toenails painted for the first time and she is still showing us her "Big, sparkly toes!"

This past week was a big one for Trip at school. First, on Tuesday night, the school had their Spring Program. Trip did the best he's ever done in front of a crowd! He sang and danced and never cried. My favorite song was "Take me out to the ballgame." We were so proud of him...and Mady for staying fairly quiet through the show. Afterwards, we took the golf cart to get a treat at the store. I am really loving this golf cart friendly weather. On Thursday, Trip had Water Day. The kids wear there swimsuits to school and they fill up baby pools with water, have squirt guns, bubbles and other water toys and activities. Mady wore her swimsuit and got to join in the fun too. By the end of the morning, Trip was exhausted! He didn't even want to eat lunch; he just wanted to go right to bed for a nap. He never naps! On Friday, we went to a local farm and picked fresh strawberries. Even though he doesn't like to eat them, Trip had fun picking them and picked some great ones. Mady, on the other hand, had trouble following the "don't eat them before you buy them" policy. We had so many strawberries that I made some yummy strawberry bread with half of them. It is so delicious! We are hoping to go back later this summer and pick their blueberries.

We tried taking the rails off of Trip's bed this week. The first night, he slept fine, except he got a little sick to his stomach in the middle of the night. The second night, he fell of the bed. It was so sad! I asked Trip if he wanted us to put the rails back on, and that sweet, little boy said, "Well, I'd rather not fall off again." So, in the middle of the night, TJ and I reinstalled the rails. I wonder if they will ever come off...what if he is 16 sleeping with bed rails?! :-)

The best part of this whole week was when TJ got his new job offer! He stayed home Tuesday for his final meeting with the new company and we got to all take the golf cart on the new bridge and eat outside at Taco Mac to celebrate! This has been a long, year, while TJ pursued new jobs and waited for God's perfect timing. Praise God for this new job! I am so proud of TJ for his patience and persistence through all of this. He really deserves this!
