Beach Babies

What a fun vacation! The new house in Florida is awesome. We had a wonderful time. It was so hard to come back home, especially to this rainy weather. I am going to try my best to sum up all that we did while in Florida last week. Both kids traveled great there and back. We even had to wake them both up on Wednesday morning to make our flight and they were so cute and excited. We met Pitty in Atlanta and she traveled with us on the way down which was a big help. Mady did the best she has ever done on a flight. Apparently all you have to do is constantly feed her treats (like an animal) and she is a happy girl. The car rental went much better than I thought it would too. The car seats were just fine and we let Mady go ahead and face forward; she loved it. We stopped at Chick-fil-a on the way to the house and TJ (super-dad) shared his food and milkshake with the kiddos. Trip did really well sleeping in his own room most of the weekend. Mady got to sleep in Pitty and Grumpa's big closet. Our kids love to sleep in closets. TJ and I got the bunk beds upstairs. It was like being at camp.
Trip loved the pool. We could not get him out of there. He even swam around on his own after the first day. He had his swim vest on and he would sort of just run in the water. Not really swimming, not really dog paddling, more like running in the water. It was so cute. We were so glad he loved the pool so much. Mady, on the other hand, was slower to warm up to the pool. I think she only made it in once and it took her a few minutes to settle down and sort of enjoy it.

We went to the beach twice while we were there. Mady was not a big fan of that water either, but she loved eating and playing with the shells. The first day we were there, two dolphins were swimming around about 20 feet from the shore. It was great! The people down the beach from us came over and thought they were sharks, but then we figured out they were dolphins. While we were debating what they were, Trip contributed by saying, "I think they're Orca whales." So smart. The second time we went, Trip stayed out in the ocean for a long time with TJ and his parents. He was such a fish on this vacation; we were shocked. What a difference a year has made with him and his confidence in the water and ability to enjoy it.
Our friends, Jen and Troy Lockett brought their two boys Brady and Ty and stayed with us on Friday. The kids had so much fun playing together. But, I think their favorite part was all 3 boys shared a room. We weren't sure how that would all work out, especially since Trip doesn't like to sleep and prefers to have all of his lights on. The Lockett boys are used to sleeping together and Trip was able to compromise and allowed us to turn off the lights. We only had two instances of them waking each other up, which is actually much better than I expected. Trip had all 3 boys up and out of their beds by 6:30 a.m. EARLY!!!! Jen and Troy stayed upstairs with us on the bunk beds, making our camp even more fun!
We celebrated Mady's birthday early since we had both sets of grandparents together. She was precious with the cake. I really thought she would just dive into it, but she isn't used to such a big piece, so it took her a while to dig in. But, once she did, she loved it. Hopefully, it was good practice for her big party coming up this weekend.

All in all, it was a wonderful, relaxing, fun vacation. Thank you to the grandparents for all of your help! It was great to have friends over and get a date night too. And, Trip and Mady had a blast! We should make an annual tradition out of this!
