Touch a Truck

What a fun Mother's Day weekend. When TJ asked me a few weeks ago what I wanted to do for Mother's Day, my answer was "be alone." Probably not the ideal way a mom should want to spend her Mother's Day. But, TJ took that and ran with it and made it a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. We started by going to Peachtree City's Touch a Truck on Saturday. It's this little festival with all kids of trucks, cars, bulldozers, etc... that the kids can climb up in and push the buttons and turn the wheels. This is Trip's second time and he loved it. Mady even enjoyed it and was not at all bothered by all the loud honking. One of the firemen that lifted Trip up into his truck asked Trip if he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up and he said no, he wanted to be a policeman. I really hope he finds something a little less scary for a profession. Both kids took great, late naps that afternoon. While grilling out that night, TJ taught Trip how to pick up ants. Woo-hoo! I am so excited he knows how to do that now.
Then, my official Mom's day at home spa treatment started. TJ took the kids and did bath and bedtime all by himself, while I got to enjoy a bubble bath in our big tub. TJ got me wine, chocolates and the latest US Weekly magazine! Trip wanted to have a bubble bath like Mommy, so TJ poured some shampoo into their bath. Mady did not share Trip's desire for bubbles and thus screamed through her entire bath. Poor TJ. Then, after the kids were tucked into bed, I got to watch a chick flick of my choice with popcorn and M&Ms and a Cherry Coke. Yummy! Then, on Sunday morning, TJ got up early and made me a delicious breakfast in bed and got both kids out of bed and fed. It was wonderful! It all ended with a little more "alone" time. I got to do a little personal shopping while TJ and Trip washed my car. It looks great! I can't remember the last time it looked so clean. Thank you to my sweet family for such a wonderful celebration. I'm glad TJ didn't really let me spend the weekend alone.
