Mady had her one year check up today. She is getting so big! She is 30 inches tall and 22 lbs. This puts her in the 78% for her height and 66% for her weight. Big girl! I was surprised that she was that tall because she seems so much smaller than Trip did at one year. But, then I realized that Trip had a huge head and Mady has a sweet, little, petite head, so I think that may be the real difference. She did great at the doctor until the shots. I don't know who was more upset by them, Mady, me or Trip. He was so sweet, coming over and trying to calm her down. The nurse told her one more as she was sticking her for the fourth, and final time, and Trip goes, "It's ok Mady, just one more and then you're all done." Sweet brother! He has such sweet moments like that and then we come home and he intentionally runs his little car into her face. What is that about?!
We all went to the pool after dinner tonight. Both kids are really enjoying being in the water this summer. I know Trip wants so badly to conquer his fear of going underwater. He says all the time that he is going to do it and that he likes doing it, almost like he is convincing himself, but when the time comes he chickens out. Tonight, TJ just dunked him twice, and afterwards, Trip said that was fun. Hopefully his swim lessons will help him with his fear.
Trip has a new favorite book and Pitty and Grumpa are going to get a big kick out of hearing this...it's Mrs. Tiggy Winkle by Beatrice Potter. This is the strangest book, but it was TJ's favorite when he was a kid. Trip already knows all the characters and is on his way to having it memorized. TJ says he still likes the book, but we'll see how he feels after having to read it over and over for the next few months.
