Today, Trip got to celebrate his birthday with his classmates at preschool. Mady and I joined them for the cupcakes that Trip and I had made together the night before. They turned out pretty good, I must say. Mady especially enjoyed the icing. She did not like waiting to eat them though. In fact, after we dropped Trip off with the cupcakes in the morning, she cried the whole way home, "CUPCAKE!!!" It was so sad. I tried to explain that we were going back and eating them with Trip later, but she would have none of it.
The only thing that stopped the crying was the distraction of her music class. She loves that class. She will sit in any mom's lap, but she especially likes the teacher's lap and she loves dancing. As you can see in the picture above, she is also really loving babies. This is her rocking her baby (and herself) to sleep in a cradle made for the baby. Mady thinks it's for her too. So sweet! She is talking so much now and learning so much each day. Today I saw her mimicking me while pretending to read a book.
Tonight, we went to see Santa at Chick-fil-a. Both kids did great! Mady, of course, had no fear and walked right up. Trip, I had to convince that he needed to introduce Mady to Santa, since he had met Santa last year, but Mady hadn't. It worked and Trip talked to Santa about 5 more times while we ate dinner. Here are two of my favorite recent Trip quotes: Last night about an hour after we put Trip to bed, we heard this banging on the floor above us and it sounded like it was coming from Trip and Mady's bathroom. TJ went up to check it out and found Trip with his pants down and face down, squatting on the floor. TJ asked him what he was doing and Trip told him he was going to the potty. So, TJ told him he was being too loud and Trip said I didn't know "I was being loud because I had my eyes closed." Then, tonight on the way home from school, Trip was telling me about how he is teaching Mady lots of things. Then, he tried teaching her to say numbers. She repeated one, two and three, but when he told her to say four, she said no. So, Trip said, "Mady, either you say four or I am not going to teach you anything else ever." Although, I doubt she really understood what he meant, she said "four," and Trip said, "Good, now I can keep teaching you things. You made a good choice." Lucky Mady!
