What a treat to have Uncle Dan and Aunt Jenny in town to help us celebrate TJ's birthday! We had such a wonderful weekend with them. As soon as they got here Friday evening, Trip sequestered them to his room and tried to keep them up there all to himself. Mady, of course, would have none of that and quickly stole the some of the attention. Trip, as always, remembered the game that Uncle Dan created when Trip was about Mady's age, called the "bouncing room." This involves Dan picking up Trip and bouncing him over his head all over the house. This was hard enough when Trip only weighed about 25 pounds, but now he is near 40, so poor Dan, got quite a workout all weekend. We got up Saturday morning and Trip got to open early birthday presents. He got a remote control car and dinosaur train, both of which he has not stopped playing with. Dan and Jenny were so good, they even brought some toys for Mady and cute new PJs. Then, we headed out for a game of Glow Golf. It was great because no one else was on the golf course. We had it all to ourselves. So, Trip just went wherever he wanted, taking as many swings as needed to get his ball in the hole. Mady followed along, looking at all the huge animals in the zoo themed golf course. I don't think she ever hit the ball though. She served as an additional obstacle for the adults as we tried to play a real game, with Aunt Jenny coming in first, TJ and I tied for second and Uncle Dan taking the bottom spot. After golf, we went to eat at Chick-fil-a, everyone's favorite. That afternoon, we all watched football and did lots of playing. Then, TJ and Dan braved the cold weather and took the golf cart to pick up pizza for dinner. On Sunday, we went out for breakfast/brunch for TJ's birthday and then came home to open presents. The kids were a big help with the present opening. I was so proud of Trip for keeping his present a surprise up until TJ opened it. I know it was so hard for him. We had ice cream cake for lunch and then it was nap time and time for our guests to leave. I wish they could've stayed longer. Dan and Jenny are both so great with our kids. We miss them!
