According to Trip, we celebrated my first birthday yesterday! I've been sticking at 29 the past few years, but I'm happy to revert back to one. The day was great! To start with, when I went to get Trip in the morning, he was looking out his window. I walked in and he said "Mommy, where is Daddy's car?" I explained that he had to work and Trip said, "He's not going to be here for your birthday party?" So, sweet; he was so concerned that Daddy wasn't going to be here to celebrate my birthday. I told him we would celebrate together with Daddy after he got off work. Then, he remembered what Daddy had told him to say to me and he said, "Mommy, guess what...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Such a cute boy. Then, when we got downstairs he got that same confused look on his face and asked, "Mommy, where are your balloons?" Good question! No balloons for Mommy. He also asked me if Daddy was getting me a cake, which I wasn't sure about, but TJ, being the wonderful dad and husband that he is, did get me a cake...my favorite, ice cream cake from Bruesters. Yummy!
The day continued well with day 3 of Trip's swim lessons. He was a little nervous at first, but he got in and swam with almost no tears. Today he did even better, he jumped off the diving board and swam to the ladder all by himself, no one in the water with him, over and over again. I was shocked and so surprised!
We ended my birthday just like a 1 year old would with a family party at the local inflatable/jump place, Jumping Jelly Beans. TJ hasn't had a chance to go with Trip and Mady this summer. So, he picked up dinner and met us there. We all had a great time! Both kids were so excited to have Daddy there and jump and go down the slides with him. I was worn out. Maybe it's not a good idea for a 32 year old to celebrate her birthday like a 1 year old!
