Below are the screams that have been coming from our family the last few days:
TJ and I are screaming in delight because Trip is now officially unlocked from his room! He is now sleeping at night with his light on and door open...whatever it takes! He is also staying in his room at nap time with his door closed even though there is no longer a duct taped child-proof lock on it. And, he has his train table and toys in his room and they've not ended up in his bed since they were brought back in. Yippee!!! As a reward, we let Trip stay up late with us on Friday. We popped popcorn and watched the Incredibles. Trip is really into super heroes lately and this is TJ's favorite movie. Trip talked the whole time. I think he liked it, but he did get scared at some of it. I really hope we are over this sleep hurdle. I'm sure it's not the last of the sleep issues we will have, but its nice to be over this one...for now.
Trip was screaming in fear last night as TJ attempted to cut his toenails. WHAT! No, this was not the first time we've done it, it's just the first time he refused and went into total meltdown mode. If you'd heard his screams, you would have thought we were cutting off his toes, not his toenails. Anyway, we managed to get through it, but I had to hold the child down to prevent him from beating TJ up as he cut the nails. Trip tells us that next time he will cooperate. We'll see!
Trip was also screaming in fear today as we went for our first swim lesson. This swim teacher is known for her no-nonsense teaching technique. And, although Trip talked her ear off with all kinds of excuses as to why he was not going to go underwater, she still put him underwater at least 7-8 times. We'll see how he does tomorrow when it's time to go back.
Mady was screaming in anger today as Trip "tackled" her to the floor and made her mouth bleed. He was serving his time in time-out and Mady went over to see him. She always does this when he is in time-out. I think its for the most part to make sure he's ok, not to rub it in, but I could be wrong. Regardless of her motive, she didn't deserve to be tackled to the ground by her big brother. So, Trip spent the rest of dinner in his room until he was ready to fess up to what he'd done. At which point he explained like a guilty teenager that he had "Sort-of" tackled Mady. What does that mean..."sort of?"
