Words of Wisdom by Trip Kuehn

Trip has had some wonderful words of wisdom the last few days that I wanted to share. First, we had a thunderstorm roll through yesterday afternoon. And, Trip was talking about the wind and rain and thunder. I said something about the lightening and Trip said, "there is no lightening in the day time, only at night time, so it can light up the sky and we can see in the storm." Who knew! This is some new scientific discovery that I had not been made aware of before. Trip is taking after Kaki, the family meteorologist.

Then, last night after swimming at the pool for 3 hours and not taking a nap, Trip could barely make it through dinner. He was crying and whining about everything. We were having a leftover night, and he had decided to have sloppy joes. This was surprising, since he didn't really want to eat them the first time I served them, but I thought great, he finally realized how delicious they are. WRONG! He could not bring himself to eat one bite and he was so upset with TJ and I for telling him he needed to eat at least some to be excused from the table. Somehow, all the anger moved to me and he told me that he was angry. I told him that was fine, it's ok to be angry. So, then he said, he was sad and I said basically the same thing, that was fine to feel that way, but he still needed to eat some dinner. Then, he decided this was getting him no where and he wanted to hit me where it hurts, so he said, "You are not my favorite mommy anymore!" So sad! I know, I have years of this to come. Anyway, I asked him who was his favorite mommy and when he couldn't answer that, he decided I was still his favorite mommy. Thank goodness! Trip, then fell asleep in the stroller on our post-dinner walk for about 15 minutes and could not fall back asleep last night until after 10 pm. What is wrong with him?!

Such a bright, wise 3 year old!
